Teva Harrison
She is the author of the bestselling and critically acclaimed graphic memoir, In-Between Days, published by House of Anansi Press. The book was listed in The Globe's 16 Canadian reads for the first half of 2016, the CBC's Spring Book Preview and 49th Shelf's Most Anticipated: Our Spring 2016 Non-Fiction Preview. Teva has commented on CBC Radio, in the Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, and has appeared on CanadaAM, The Agenda with Steve Paikin, Space TV's InnerSpace, in the Maclean's, Chatelaine, Rabble, and Quill & Quire. Numerous health organizations have invited her to speak publicly on behalf of the metastatic cancer community. Teva also speaks on creativity and telling life stories.
The Globe and Mail named her one of sixteen Torontonians to watch in 2016.
She's in love with the natural world & fascinated by the spaces between (people, places, & ideas), & the way technology is changing our relationships. Her works are freeform explorations of evolving ideas.
Teva's comics explore everything from her magic-filled hippie childhood to what it means to live with metastatic breast cancer. Her comics have appeared regularly on The Walrus's website.
Teva was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer at age 37. Prior to her cancer diagnosis, Teva was the Director of Marketing at the Nature Conservancy of Canada, and before that, she worked in visual art, film, publishing and music, as part of the show or behind the scenes in Canada and the U.S. She was born in rural Oregon, and currently lives in Toronto with her wonderful husband.
