Martin Hořák is a Canadian academic of Czech origin whose parents fled the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968. He is a professor of political science at Western University. He specializes in urban politics, and has an ongoing interest in 20th century European history.
In addition to his academic work at Western, he is in possession of a unique collection of correspondence that Bidlo sent in 1942 to his grandmother, Markéta (a.k.a. Greta) Horaková. At the time, Greta was a young anti-Nazi activist. She met Bidlo in resistance circles in Prague during the occupation. Bidlo fell in love with her. He professed his love in two series of cartoons and an illustrated letter.
