Wolf Saga's artistic process is a dance between sight and sound, visualizing each melody and beat, he paints a picture for listeners that evokes an immense emotional response with every listen. With a journey in music that’s been deeply influenced by his love for film and his studies in the art, each song listens like a scene in a movie - rich in emotion and imagery, unfurling his life’s story. Wolf Saga creates irresistible electro-pop anthems that effortlessly compel people to move, but to appreciate them solely for their infectious rhythm would be a disservice to his craft. Embedded within these vibrant tracks are layers of thoughtful social commentary, making his music not just a source of entertainment, but also a vehicle for creating change and building resilience.

In the realm of modern music, Wolf Saga stands as a beacon of innovation both as an artist of Indigenous descent, and at the forefront of the electro-pop genre. Paying homage to his Ojibwe heritage, Wolf Saga’s stage name symbolizes the wolf spirit’s loyalty and protection, an identity he carries with pride and defines on his own terms. Proudly Indigenous, Wolf Saga refuses to create “Indigenous music” or electro-pop music with traditional Indigenous elements, a testament to his ability to bridge the gap between the past, present and future. This musical foundation was laid in his childhood, and influenced by his father’s affinity for 80’s synth-pop and icons like David Bowie, Duran Duran and U2. This nostalgic influence combined with his commitment to breaking genre norms gives both his music and identity a multi-dimensional quality.

Released in 2020, Wolf Saga’s self-titled debut album not only exemplified his challenge to the stereotypes surrounding Indigenous music, but more broadly declared Wolf Saga as a resonant voice for social change, weaving insightful commentary on social issues like Indigenous reparations and the Black Lives Matter movement, with addictive, pop-driven melodies. The result was a rich blend of some of Wolf Saga’s favourite contemporaries: the infectious indie-pop hooks of Foster The People, the heartfelt resonance of The Verve, and the electronic vibrancy of Daft Punk. Wolf Saga went on to find immediate success with his fans, as the captivating single ‘Through This Night’ has received over 2 million plays on Spotify, while the album as a whole has reached over 4 million spins.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Wolf Saga has continued to develop his craft for over a decade, resulting in multiple Jack Richardson Awards (2012 & 2015), which set the stage for him to be named an RBC Canada Emerging Artist in 2017, and 2018 Juno Masterclass Finalist. This has come in tandem with the evolution of his live show, which has been refined over the years, leading him to appearances at renowned festivals like Riverfest Elora, Folk On The Rocks, Reeperbahn and more.

In his upcoming project Main Character, Wolf Saga takes his cinematic approach to new heights as the EP thematically explores how our lives are like a movie - examining our role as the main character in our life stories, and how we navigate the highs and lows to ultimately determine our narrative. Each track in the EP promises to either be a scene you know all too well, or is something you can learn from, telling a part of a larger story that immerses listeners in an audio-visual journey; straddling that audio-visual line is a testament to Wolf Saga’s creativity, and the power of his music to unite, inspire, and transcend. His movie is not just one of musical accomplishment, but of cultural awakening and innovation.
