Wormwood


Wormwood is an electro-acoustic duo based in London, Ontario comprised of members Christina Willatt and Andrew Wenaus. Andrew Wenaus is assistant professor at the University of Western Ontario’s Department of English and Writings Studies and a member of UWO’s Complex Adaptive Systems Lab. He is the author of The Literature of Exclusion: Dada, Data, and the Threshold of Electronic Literature (Lexington, 2021) and Jeff Noon’s Vurt: A Critical Companion (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022). With Christina Willatt he has recorded, arranged, and performed electro-acoustic scores for theatre, dance, film, and contemporary classical ensemble. Willatt is a singer, pianist, organist, composer, and music director and educator. She has performed opera, new music, and electronic music in Canada, the United States, and Europe. Most recently, the duo composed the score to Wenaus’ multimedia play Last Million Last Moments; the play premiered in Prague two weeks ago and will debut in London, UK in 2023. The duo would also like to announce the event Compost: Recomposing Relations” hosted by Sweet Labour Arts Collective that will take place in London at Aeolian Hall on November 8, 2022. This event commemorates the life of Billy Douthwright, a two-spirit Oneida artist (Turtle Clan of Oneida) and a member of Sweet Labour Arts Collective. The event will include a feast, interactive art works by Billy, a live performance by Wormwood and dancer Montana Summers, the premiere of the film Compost: Recomposing Relations, and a feast. Please come out to join us in this commemoration of Billy’s life and work.
