Did you know that Walt Whitman spent the summer of 1880 right here in London, the guest of Richard Maurice Bucke? Bucke was the head physician at the London Insane Asylum at the time and eventually became part of the faculty of medicine at Western in 1882.

Whitman's visit helped inspire a series of followers in London and across Ontario. Join us as Schuster explores the great stories of how Ontario became one of the most important epicentres for things Whitmanian from the 1880s to a peak around 1910s and 1920s.
