Words is a festival celebrating all things wordy: books, poetry, song, children's literature, writing for the screen and stage, new media, spoken word performances and much more.

Featured Authors & Speakers

During a time of crisis and change, our communities need the transformative power of the literary and creative arts now more than ever. We also need to support writers and artists whose work has been profoundly disrupted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Words Committee is in the process of adapting our programming to respond to social distancing measures that have placed unprecedented restrictions on public gathering and travel for the public health and safety of all. We are currently planning for a largely virtual festival, augmented with in-person events where and if possible.

We are proceeding with optimism to plan a full lineup of events for Words 2020. The global pandemic has presented all festival organizers with an extraordinary challenge, and we are rising to the occasion creatively by modifying our traditional weekend-long model to run for just over a week. Words 2020 will begin on Friday, November 6th, but will run until the following Friday, November 13th.

Mark you calendars and tune in for more updates to come!

All Saturday and Sunday events are free and seating is limited.
