Souwesto Expo 2018

We're extending a warm invitation to local writers, small presses, editors—to everyone in our region invested in literary creativity. Come take part in the transformation of London and region’s largest book fair. Register HERE

The Souwesto Book Fair is inviting regional authors to sell their books at our fair, hosted and run by the London Writers Society!

This year, Souwesto Expo has exciting news about a new venue and a fantastic new format that will improve our participants’ exposure and ease their investment in time, effort, and money. The Souwesto Book Fair—we’re now better and easier!

Souwesto will be running our feature Workshops that have proved such a hit in the past. These will be held in a dedicated meeting area within the Centre at the Forks space.

Format: The Souwesto Book Fair

Moving away from the format of previous years, where each author was responsible to sit their exhibition table throughout the Festival, we will now be hosting one exhibit selling books by our participating authors. This exhibit will be operated by the London Writers Society, with the support of Festival volunteers and any participating authors who would like to volunteer.

The cost to authors? Nothing. The Souwesto Book Fair will not even be asking for a consignment fee for the exhibition table.

How to participate: register online; drop off your books at Museum London before the event; retrieve unsold books and your sales funds after the event. But to maximize the opportunity afforded by the Souwesto, we suggest that you also develop and submit promotional materials for yourself and your work that we can display, and participate with Souwesto staff in providing information about your work for our pre-event promotional campaign.

Dates and Times

The Souwesto Book Fair dates and times are:

Friday, Nov. 2,   6 – 9 pm

 Saturday, Nov. 3,  10 – 6 pm

 Sunday, Nov. 4,  10 – 4 pm

Location

The Souwesto Book Fair will take place at Museum London (421 Ridout St N, London, ON), in the “Centre at the Forks” space.

Author Eligibility

The Souwesto Book Fair serves as a showcase for Southwestern Ontario writers.

We welcome non-fiction and fiction, ranging from novels to poetry to graphic works. However, we reserve the right to refuse any works that we consider inconsistent with the spirit of the Souwesto.

The books submitted must be the author’s own.

The books need to be for sale, not free giveaways.

 Author Registration

To register as a participating author, go to our registration page, which you can access HERE. On that page, you will input questions such as book titles, how many copies you will submit, prices, and so forth.

You can register up until October 31st.

However, please register as early as possible, to help us plan and to ensure that you do not miss out on opportunities such as our advertising promotions.

Submitting Your Books

We suggest that writers submit 10-20 copies of each book they want to sell. We will limit authors to three titles apiece, to ensure fair representation for all participants.

You can submit your books during our drop-off times: Drop off your books at Museum London's Centre at the Forks space at Museum London, Nov 2 between 1:00-5:30. (Volunteers will be onsite prepping for the event at that time.)
